HIGHLAND HUMANE SOCIETY
The mission of the Highland County Humane Society is to offer a nurturing temporary home and medical treatment to adoptable cats and dogs. We are dedicated to placing these animals into loving and suitable homes while increasing awareness about humane treatment of animals. A key part of our mission is to promote spay and neuter programs, aiming to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Highland County. While we do not handle stray animal pickups, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of all animals in our community through education and advocacy.

A Beacon of Hope for Pets in Need
At the heart of Highland County lies a compassionate sanctuary for our four-legged friends - the Highland Humane Society. As a proud non-profit 501(c)3 animal shelter, we are committed to providing a nurturing and safe haven for dogs and cats as they embark on their journey to finding loving forever homes.

Since our inception in 1969, our shelter has stood as a testament to community-driven animal welfare. Managed by a dedicated team of full-time staff and a passionate Board of Directors, we continuously strive to make a difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them.

We understand the importance of responsible pet ownership, which is why we offer a range of services, including low-cost spay/neuter programs, and managed intake for pets in need in Highland County and surrounding areas, ensuring space and resources are optimally utilized.

Your support and interest mean the world to us and the pets we care for. Whether you're looking to adopt, volunteer, or simply learn more about responsible pet care, our team is here to assist you.
