Highland County Humane Society's mission is to provide a peaceful temporary home for adoptable cats and dogs, place them in suitable homes, increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and promote spay/neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs.

We provide a safe haven for dogs and cats while they transition from their past lives to their future forever homes. In 2024, our dedicated team successfully rescued 311 dogs and 334 cats, a remarkable achievement that reflects the tireless efforts of our staff and volunteers.
Our humane society provides a personalized, experienced adoption service where each animal and prospective adopter is treated uniquely. We don't apply rigid rehoming criteria, because we believe every dog and cat deserves their perfect match — a loving, suitable home for all.
We're committed to supporting pets and the people who love them across Highland County. Our community programs include vaccine and microchip clinics, low-cost spay/neuter, affordable dog training and a Pet Food Pantry for families in need — all part of our mission to keep pets healthy, safe and in their homes.
